The Central No. 3 seed Bryant Lady Hornets defeated the West No. 4 seed Bentonville Lady Tigers 53-48 in the first round of the 6A State Tournament and advance to play the North Little Rock Charging Lady Cats today at 4 p.m. at Cabot High School. Bryant Head Coach Brad Matthews said that it was a good win for the Lady Hornets in how they executed the game plan well.
“I thought our kids executed game plan, that’s something we’ve been building on the last two, three or four weeks of the season,” Matthews said. “(We are) executing game plans much better than we had in early January.”
Bentonville led for the first few minutes of the first period. Sophomore Raija Todd made a 3-pointer, making it 9-8 with about two minutes left. Todd scored again and increased Bryant’s lead, 11-8. The Lady Hornets led 11-10 when the period ended.
