Same old, same old for future Razorback, former Bryant Hornet and current Bryant Black Sox pitcher Zach Jackson. Jackson gave up no runs in two starts in the 7A State Tournament in which he was the winning pitcher in a 5-0 victory over Conway in the championship game. On Thursday in a winner’s bracket game against the Ada Braves, Oklahoma’s state champion, Jackson pitched a complete-game shutout in a 6-0 victory to vault the Black Sox into a semifinals matchup against Missouri champion Sedalia Travelers in the Mid-South Regional tonight at 6:30 at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock.
Jackson gave up just five hits and no walks, while striking out six in nine innings pitched.
After Bryant (30-8) left 17 men on base in a 3-2 win over Ottawa, Kansas, on Wednesday, the offense got it going much earlier in Thursday’s win.
Leadoff man Logan Allen singled to center in the bottom of the first inning and stole second before Dylan Hurt walked. Garrett Misenheimer struck out before Allen stole third and then home to put the Black Sox up 1-0 after one inning.
