The Arkansas Activities Association announced Monday morning that this year's high school softball state championship games will be moved to Lady Panthers Field in Benton.
It was announced late Sunday that the University of Central Arkansas would be hosting, but that was changed Monday after UCA earned a bid to host a NISC tournament that begins Wednesday and will continue through Friday.
Saline County will be represented well with two squads playing for championships.
The Bauxite Lady Miners take the overall No. 1 seed into the 4A title game against Pottsville on Friday. First pitch is planned for 12:30 p.m.
On Saturday, Harmony Grove brings its second seed into the 3A match against overall No. 1 Rose Bud, a team that has defeated the Lady Cardinals twice this year.
First pitch is set for 12:30 p.m.
The move from the regular Bogle Park at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville is due to the Lady 'Backs being selected as a host for upcoming NCAA Division 1 tournament.
"The University of Arkansas has been chosen to be one of 16 regional host sites this weekend," said a statement from AAA.
Other state championship softball games include:
Friday
•2A: Poyen vs. Quitman, 10 a.m.
•1A: Taylor vs. Concord, 3 p.m.
•7A: Bentonville vs. Bentonville West, 5:30 p.m.
Saturday
•5A: Farmington vs. Greenbrier, 10 a.m.
•6A: Marion vs. Sheridan, 3 p.m.
While softball matches have been moved, all baseball and soccer state championship games will remain at Fayetteville.
Saline County teams vying for titles are the 6A Benton Panthers baseball team against Greenwood at 3 p.m. Saturday; 6A Benton Lady Panthers soccer team against Siloam Springs at 2 p.m. Friday; and 7A Bryant Lady Hornets soccer team against Rogers at 10 a.m. Friday.
