The Bryant Hornets baseball team started the Tampa High School Spring Training Tournament in Tampa, Florida, in fine form with a 14-0 shellacking of Fairfax (Virginia) and a 5-2 win over Quebect, Canada, on Monday.
The Hornets (6-0) used a 4-run first inning in their win against Quebec as leadoff man Logan Allen singled, Dylan Hurt was hit by a pitch and senior Evan Lee walked to load the bases. Junior Garrett Misenheimer followed with a walk to force Allen in for the 1-0 lead and courtesy runner Jason Gentry scored on a passed ball for the 2-0 advantage.
The Hornets picked up two more runs in the inning on a Seth Tucker RBI walk and Cameron Coleman’s fielder’s choice scored Joey Cates. The Hornets made it 5-0 in the bottom of the second on Lee’s sacrifice fly scoring Allen once again.
Senior Arkansas Razorbacks signee Zach Jackson started and picked up the win, giving up no runs on five hits and zero walks, striking out six in five innings.
