The Bryant Lady Hornets received a high-point performance from senior Haley Hood to finish second at the Cabot Walmart Invitational Tuesday at Cabot High School. Hood scored 30.5 points to earn the honor and set a new school record in the 300-meter hurdles, breaking former Lady Hornet Alexis Royal’s record set in 2012.
“Haley Hood just had an awesome meet,” Bryant Coach Danny Westbrook said. “She had some very outstanding performances in every event she was in. That 300-meter school record time was a huge surprise. Her and Jadyn Lewis continue to do a great job of leading this team in both practices and competition. Coach Keith Dale continues to do an outstanding job coaching them and the rest of our sprinters.”
Conway ran away with the meet putting up 123 points with Bryant runner-up at 100. Sheridan (73), West Memphis (67) and Parkview (62) rounded out the top five, with Benton scoring eight points for 14th out of 19 schools.
Hood began her big day in the first event, the girls high jump, taking the top spot with a height of 5-03.00. Hood would then dominate the 300m hurdles in a time of 45.45, topping second place by almost five seconds. Hood took second in the 100m hurdles in a time of 16.21 and then helped the 4x400m relay team of Amanda Burt, Hood, Zeia Robinson and Jadyn Lewis place first in 4:12.92.
