BRYANT – The Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team picked up two big recruits on Thursday. No big surprise there with the Hogs being one of the top teams in the nation year after year, but what may come as a bit of a shock, or not, is that those two recruits are Bryant Hornets.
Senior left-handed pitcher and outfielder Evan Lee, the No. 1 prospect in Arkansas according to Prep Baseball Report, and senior right-handed pitcher Zach Jackson, the No. 5 prospect in Arkansas both signed their national letters of intent to become Razorbacks Wednesday at Bryant High School.
Both said it was a dream come true.
“I got off the phone with them (Arkansas), I told my parents what had happened and I came back outside on the porch and committed,” Lee said. ”It was a 10-minute process. Some others (colleges) were on me but I had it in the back of my mind, if Arkansas offered me, I would go with my dream school and felt at home.”
“This is a dream come true,” Jackson concurred. “I’ve wanted to be a Razorback ever since I was little. Watching the games at Dickey-Stephens (Park in North Little Rock) and also at Baum (Stadium in Fayetteville). Getting that phone call by (Recruiting Coordinator Tony) Vitello saying, ‘Hey man, we want you to come up and visit,’ there’s no way this is true. The Razorbacks, they really want me to come visit?
