The Bauxite Miners hit the road to Nashville Thursday in a very important game to go toward seeding for the 7-4A District Tournament coming up in mid-February. Standing at 1-1 in the games that count, the Miners were down for most of the game, but would fight back in the fourth quarter as senior Cooper Wright’s game-winning layup proved the difference in a 44-42 Miners victory over the Scrappers.
Losers of their previous two games, the Miners (14-6, 7-4 district) needed this win not only for the seeding, but to stop their slide.
“We were kind of, maybe still are but hopefully not, in a funk, especially with our loss at CAC,” Bauxite Coach Andy Brakebill said. “We haven’t been playing well. We didn’t play great last night, but we were able to go on the road and get a win down there. It’s always a tough place to play. We did not shoot the ball well at all.”
After three straight games on the road, the Miners return home to Fred Dawson Gym in Bauxite tonight.
