BAUXITE — The Bauxite Lady Miners (1-0) opened their season with a blowout victory over Harmony Grove (0-1) Tuesday, winning 57-26.
“I thought we came out fast and determined,” Bauxite Head Coach Cody Lambert. “We executed well and took care of the ball. We are a young team, so overall, for a first game, I was proud of my team for the way they competed.”
Bauxite hit seven 3-pointers in the win with Shelby Chavers and Joscelyn Rodgers hitting three each. Sydney Oliver missed both of her 3-point attempts, but finished with a perfect 4 for 4 night inside the arc.
“We spend a lot of time shooting, because we know how small we are and know we are going to have to be able to shoot the ball well,” Lambert said. “We came out and didn’t force shots. They knocked down the ones we needed.”
Bauxite’s defense was strong as well, forcing 26 turnovers on Harmony Grove.
“I thought we did well, for the most part,” Lambert said.
