Harmony Grove softball added another tick mark to its board of athletes to sign with an NCAA squad on Friday as star catcher/infielder Faith Otts inked her national letter of intent, officially making her a Southern Arkansas University Lady Mulerider come next fall.
“I feel truly humbled and it is such a blessing,” Otts said. “I think it is where God wants me to be.”
Otts had her pick of the litter when choosing where she wanted to spend her first four years after high school, ultimately deciding on SAU.
Other in-state schools wanting Otts were Harding, Central Baptist College, Williams Baptist, University of Arkansas at Monticello and the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville.
Otts said she knew she wanted to be a Lady Mulerider as soon as she stepped on campus in Magnolia.
“When I stepped on campus I just got this feeling and I prayed about it,” Otts said. “I feel like God led me there.”
Otts’ high school coach, Sammi Massey, feels strongly that her catcher will be able to excel at the next level.
“She is one of those kids that is going to do whatever it takes to play,” Massey said. “Whoever gets her is going to be lucky, let’s put it that way.”
