Lady Miners fall to Lions

After defeating the Sheridan Lady Jackets 64-57 in overtime in the first round of the Lady Miner Invitational on Monday, the Bauxite Lady Miners fell 61-56 in the second round to a tough Jessieville Lady Lions squad on Tuesday.
“We didn’t play very well,” Bauxite Coach Cody Lambert said. “We gave up a lot of easy layups and missed a lot of easy layups; the things we’ve been doing well up to this point. But I don’t take anything away from Jessieville, that’s a really good basketball team.
“They probably have the best post player in Class 4A and below in (Kellie) Lampo. She has multiple DI offers, she can really play. It was a hard time stopping her. They did a good job shooting the ball and did well defensively.”
Freshman Daikerria Strong led the Lady Miners with 13 points, followed by senior Abbey Bradbury’s 12 points. Junior Sydney Oliver and senior Joscelyn Rodgers each scored 9 points, while sophomore Shelby Chavers had 6 and freshman Destiny McClain had 5.
