The Harmony Grove Cardinals struggled to score the basketball Tuesday, falling to 5-3A Conference foe Perryville, 47-37.
“We got behind 15-4, but it wasn’t because we didn’t get shots,” said Head Coach Chris Smith. “We couldn’t make shots. We couldn’t stop their big girl inside so that got us behind the 8-ball right off the bat.
“We got within four or six sometimes in the fourth quarter, but then they would hit a shot. Because we were pressing, they would get an easy shot or we would foul. We played hard, for the most part, but it is the fact that we didn’t shoot the ball well.”
The Lady Cardinals beat the Mustangs 58-46 in the first matchup, but Smith said last week that he knew Perryville would make some changes this time around.
“They played a box-and-1 on Morgan (Efird) and we knew that was coming and we were prepared,” Smith said. “We didn’t execute. We had shots, but didn’t make them.”
